Nice Apartments but hot and noise problems

The good: the apartments themselves are gorgeous- great space and value for the money. The hardwood floors are beautiful; the bathroom is modern, and the whole place is spacious. Many of the units have newer kitchens (you have to ask for one) which are nice. I have an older kitchen and the pilot sometimes goes out on the stove, but other than that it's still ok. And there are no bugs or mice.
There is a no pet policy but people have pets and management looks the other way.. it's ok though because it's good for pet owners. The pets there do not bother me. Also the community is very diverse; every ethnicity you can think of lives here.
Great location too, near the parkway and a conveience store, gas station, auto repair and supermarket all within walking distance.
The bad about this place is first of all the noise between the upstairs and downstairs units. The flooring is very thin. I don't hear my neighbors on the sides of me, and there is not too much noise coming from the outside.. it's mainly the people downstairs. I thought by living on the second floor that I'd avoid noise, but I was wrong. I can hear everything coming from downstairs- the tv, talking, even snoring at night! It is kind of the luck of the draw with this place though.. if you get quiet neighbors you'll be ok, just unfortunately I didn't.
You can't control your own heat, and sometimes it becomes unbearable. They keep the heat on even through April. Even with the windows open my bedroom, it can still get up to 80 degrees inside. It's ok once I put the air conditioner on, but it's sort of a waste of money to have to put an AC on in February.
Parking is ok as long as you get home by 9pm. After that, things get a little rough.
I haven't had much experience with maintenance, but I have noticed you need to follow up with them if you want something done. They were nice to me though. The ladies at the rental office were very nice and courteous to me as well.
Some of the reviews on here though must be by the rental staff to skew the ratings and make them more positive. This place is ok but not that great. I'll probably move out when my lease is up.
