The BEST community in the area!

From: sdagood

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2009

PROFILE:

I am a very discerning buyer who had conducted an extensive search process before I selected Park Apartments. I am 53 years old and have lived in apartments as far west as Texas to New Jersey. I don't normally participate in these types of surveys, unless I am really upset or really pleased.

The short version is that my "total apartment experience" here has been the BEST I have ever experienced. So, if you're a quick study, you can tell that I am not writing this review in anger...:O).

I need to relocate out of state for a new job, so I thought I would write this review before I left as a courtesy to the management of this property for their outstanding service and as a goodwill aid for others that are looking for some reliable information.

I will address the areas of interest to me in hopes you share similar interests.

MANAGEMENT:

Flat out THE BEST.

Superior service begins at the top with the manager Terry and ends with the maintenance supervisor, Ed (and his staff). Terry lives on site in Building 1, and "truly" cares about the residents. She takes personal ownership of your problems and does everything within her power to make your stay a positive experience. Believe me, outstanding service in America is becoming a lost art. However, Terry and Ed epitomize what superior service is all about. Superior service is not lost, but in fact, can be found at Park Apartments!

GROUNDS:

The grounds are extremely well-kept and safe. The grounds are always being groomed. It is a pleasure to come home during the spring and summer to see the well cut grass and the trees and flowers blooming. The pool is very well maintained too.

APARTMENT:

First and foremost the SPACE you get is HUGE.

The apartments are enormous and there's plenty of closet space (including a full-size walk-in closet in the bedroom). To call it a closet is not doing it justice. You can have a small office or a baby bedroom fit in any of the bedroom closets. They are that BIG. I defy you to find any closets in the area that are bigger than these ones.

Utilities are included except for electricity. Heat and hot water are included since they are maintained centrally. However, you can still control your heater individually.

The kitchen is a legitimate eat in kitchen that has a huge Pantry. There's also a ceiling fan in the kitchen. The Kitchen stove is electric and I have a dishwasher.

The key feature for me is the washer and dryer located in the bathroom. God, I used to hate the hassles associated with doing laundry in a community laundry room. The only drawback here is that there is no ventilation from the dryer to the outside, so the bathroom gets really hot whenever you run the dryer. But the work around is to shut the bathroom door and open the window.

Speaking of the bathroom, the showers work great (excellent water pressure and temperature). There is a cabinet behind the mirror above the sink.

One of the other unique amenities is the screened-in porch, and since most units face the woods, it is a wonderful place to enjoy the outdoors without being attacked by mosquitoes.

BORDENTOWN:

It's small lovely town. Seven or eight blocks of Farnsworth Avenue are lined with nice restaurants and shops, and there are always tons of people out walking their dogs or just enjoying being there. You have two main grocery store options available to you on US-130 (South) and US-206 (North). I prefer the ACME market off of US-130 South (Turn right onto Duns Mill Road) as it is only one year old and the management there is top shelf.

SHOPPING:

If you're looking for all of the major stores, you'll find everything you need at the Hamilton Marketplace about 10 minutes up US-130 (North). If you care to venture about fifteen minutes from Bordentown, you can access the Quaker Mall and other higher end amenities in the Princeton location.

LOCATION:

The location is a salesperson's dream as you can jump on 206, 130, 295, NJ Turnpike (95) and I95 within a few minutes (And I mean a FEW!). There is no better location to access the main roads in Central NJ. The trains are very accessible to Philly and NY, but I don't use them.

RESTAURANTS:

You are less than a quarter of a mile away from the number 1 rated diner in New Jersey (Mastoris). The quality and quantity of the food is unsurpassed for the low to moderate price point. I also think that the restaurant Mangia makes the best tomato pie pizza I have ever eaten. Their owner, Steve, is a classy guy who ran a successful business in New York and has brought his superb operation here to Bordentown. It is a low to moderate price point. Palermo's is also close by and they make the second best tomato pie Pizza I have ever eaten. Their price point is low to moderate as well. If you lease an apartment at Park Apartments, Terry will give you a welcome package that has a gift certificate to Palermos. I am glad she did, because I never would have stopped there as the outside of the building is run down. This is just a good example of Terry's value added service.

STORAGE:

If you have a need for additional storage, a brand new state of the art facility is right across the road (The Storage Depot). The management there (Dave and Tom) are first class as well. Terry also has coupons for you to get a discount there (Again, more value added service!). They have climate controlled and non climate controlled units.

SAFETY:

The location of the property requires you to access it comfortably by car. Therefore, you don't have any vagrants (At least I never saw any in my two years of living here) walking up to the property from the city of Bordentown. I was never robbed or felt a fear of being robbed.

PARKING:

The parking is exceptional where I live (close to the pool). I usually park within 20 feet of my front door every night.

SOUND:

I think the quietness of an apartment is directly related to your neighbors. I have been blessed. I have NEVER had trouble sleeping at night because of noisy neighbors. I can't guarantee you will have the same good fortune.

CONCLUSION:

There are cheaper options in the market, but as an old mentor of mine once said, "the bitterness of poor service lingers long after the sweetness of best price." I could afford to pay more and was happy to do so because I received the best VALUE for my money.

Do yourself a favor. First go visit several other properties before you come to Park Apartments. Once you have a basis of comparison established, you can make an informed decision. Plus, I can almost guarantee (everyone has their own opinion) that you will want to lease an apartment at Park Apartments if you can afford to do so. Therefore, if you visit Park Apartments last, you can save yourself a return trip :O)!
