The Mariner Apartments looks like a pretty and quaint place to live. The draw is that you can walk two blocks to the beach. But beware...the walls and floors are not well insulated...you can hear your neighbors too much. You can even hear snoring, coughing, talking on the phone through the floor. The noise situation makes for a completely miserable situation unless you are hard of hearing.
Another problem is the neighbors, there a number of half-way houses on the same block with transient residents. These half-way houses are an eye sore, and the residents sometimes cause problems. The rest of neighborhood is working class.

Absolutely accurate and then some. Lived there from 8/17/08 to 8/17/09, nothing but problems. Refrig had to be replaced, water heater bad, electrical problems, an electrical fire for no aparent reason, noisey neighbors, in particular Apt. C9 a total self-absorbed idiot, constant walking late into the night. Next door a half way house, police come at least once a week. They are up early in the A.M. and late at night in the summer playing their steros loud and barbcuing in the back yard and make a lot of noise. Teenagers roam the parking lot at night looking for cars that are unlocked. Police had to be called on numerous ocassions. Tenants leave the entrance doors unlocked, poor security. There is no heat in the halls in the winter, the gap between your front door and the hall is so great that all you heat escapes and your electric bill will be anywhere from $250 to $300 a month in the winter and in the summer if you use the a/c it will run about the same. I had an electrical fire and had to wait over 2 weeks before any repairs were properly made. DanJon mgmt does not give a damn. When you finally more they will take some if not all of your security to replace the carpet and clean the apt even though you did so. Even though the carpet is replace automatically when a tenant moves out they will charge you $400 and $100 for cleaning. When mgmt was confronted with these charges, they responded (Millie is her name) you can get a lawyer if you want. There is more, to cut it short, RENTER BEWARE this is a dump.
