I have been living here for about a year. I just read some of the reviews and felt I needed to voice my opinion. I found this website helpful when I was searching for an apartment and felt it was my duty to share my personal thoughts.
I like Mt. Pleasant Villas. They keep the place well groomed and the maintenance staff is ridiculously fast. I called for an issue I was having with my stove and when I got home from work that day it was fixed. There was also a leak in my ceiling when it rained and within a day it was repaired.
The structure of the buildings is a bit ------ though. For example, I live on the second floor and the person below me sounds like he lives above me. I hear loud footsteps and when he runs on his treadmill things rattle on my shelf (by the way he is a very nice man. I told him my issue and he has worked with me to try to remedy the problem). I don't hear voices or loud music, so I really feel it is the construction and not rude tenants. I don't hear domestic arguments like some have stated, but then again, there are many buildings in this complex, so I may be one of the lucky ones. As bad as the constuction may be, there is tons of light (huge windows) and a nice patio in each unit.
As for some of the reviews I have read about safety... I feel very safe here. I lived in NYC for many years and this is my first apartment in this area. Some of the surrounding towns are a bit shady, but this complex seems very safe. I don't like the fact that there is no laundry hook ups in each apartment, but the facilities are OK (not great, just OK).... They also state that pets are not allowed, but they allow my cat and I see cats chilling out in other tenants windows, but haven't seen any dogs.
Overall I am satisfied. I was thinking of moving but after reading other reviews of other places in the area, the minor noise issue I am having with the treadmill is nothing compared to some of the things others have to deal with.
Oh and the rent does go up each year but it is minor.
