I signed on for the $883/month... Nov 1, 2008 to Nov 1, 2009. I signed a leas (as everyone does)... more than 60 days out (aug 15') I got a renewal lease. I promptly took the leas, and put a note on it, saying would be out on Oct 31, that I loved the apartment, but would not be renewing.

I called the front office... the following week for a problem with the apartment could they please look at it (leak from upstairs warping my wall in my bathroom). Also to please note, and confirm that I would be leaving Oct 31.

10 days later they called me to tell me they were going to look at the leak. The wall was very much soaked now. They tore apart the wall said nothing was wrong. and left a hole in the wall.

Another 2 weeks and they came back and repaired the wall, but didn't paint it. they didn't call. And it got worse again... they then repaired the problem upstairs apparently, as the leak stopped (wall eventually dried)...

Meanwhile I am now out of the apartment... they claim that I didn't respond to their requests for a lease renewal, or a notification... I GOT NOTHING.

I got now in the mail that I never notified them I was leaving... except that I handed the keys in on 10/30/2009. I told them no, that was not true, that I sent the lease back unsigned, and that I was out 10/31. I also told them when I put in a request for maintenance that I was out on 10/31.

Apparently they didn't get that.

Village Green said they mailed me, they never MAILED anything... and nothing through the slot either. EXCEPT this mail of course to get me to pay for 45 more days of rent and to stick me with not giving my deposit back!!!!

I left the apartment clean, and pristine, and early. I paid my rent ON TIME... and for it, I get shafted.

Shame too, the apartments location is nice, the ammenities are nice, and the tenants are nice. The management is a disaster, and the apartments themselves are stuck in the 70s.

DO NOT RENT FROM THEM WITHOUT A IRON CLAD PAPER TRAIL, and WILLINGNESS TO FIX THINGS YOURSELF.

Sounds like it's their standard MO. Although they used a different set of excuses with me, the result was the same, they kept (stole) my deposit.
