We lived in Chateau until 2001 when we were lucky enough to get a mortgage and move into a house in a nice neighborhood. When we moved out of Chateau I felt as if we had won the Mega-Millions lottery. That place was absolutely horrid and EVERY damn year they raised my rent another 100-150. One time I called the office to ask why my rent keeps going up and the response I got was "the cost of fixing things have gone up". My next question was, "fixing what''''" The 5 years we lived there barely anything got fixed and when it did, it was jerry-rigged, never fixed. I finally had to have the code officer from Burlington come and inspect the apartment and make them do the repairs. They didn't get the hint however so I finally told them the rent would be going into escrow until everything was fixed. I always made a list and either got managements signature onthe repair list stating the repairs would be done or I'd send the notices via certified mail so they could say they weren't aware. I also followed the proper legal procedures of putting rent into escrow and that's what eventually lit the fire under them.

Here's a list of the problems we encountered while living there:
a) Over filled trash bins
b) Used condoms and crack pipes all over the grounds
c) The laundry rooms NEVER were in good working condition because they'd be ransacked or used as a crack palace
d) Dogs running lose
e) Hoodlums running through the courts at night waking me up
f) My next door neighbor was busted for drugs (was glad to see that though sicne he was a jerk and I got to witness it all!)
g) Shootings were a weekend recreational activity
h) Management who were simply complacent

I even placed a call to the office of the attorney who owned this complex and complained to them.
You'll be sorry if you move there.
