Not the Best Place in the World...But Certainly Not the Worst

I've lived here for about two years now and it's a big change from the so called "ghetto" Maple Shade. I grew up in Camden and was happy to move out of there when I was 12 but my family fell on hard times and we had to move back here because of the low price. I do agree with people about the roach infestation. I have pets but I'm a germ o' fob so I keep everything nice and clean. haha Although I clean ever single day I still get a whole mother load of roaches. I've actually had to cover my pet's water and food bowls because during the night there would be about 20 or more of them out and about eating and drinking to their hearts content. I've told the maintenance manger about this and they quickly sent an exterminator to my apartment. But it hasn't really helped much. My neighbors are quiet loud during the day and night. The only time I can really get some sleep is after 11: 30 P.M. Everyone then calms down and it becomes quite, but every once in a while their will be a driver with extremely loud music playing. Unfortunately I live on the second floor and just outside my bedroom window there will be a BBQ going during the summers and all the smoke enters my room. I've asked them to move the grill towards the middle of the yard so not as much smoke would enter my room. They didn't respond at all and continue to grill below my window. I live towards the back (Willow Walk) and that's been reported as one of the worst areas. There are a lot of kids near me and they make A LOT of noise, but they're just being kids so I'll let that pass. But what can't stand is when they leave trash on my door step, dig in my yard and dump the dirt on my door and stairs, and break my flower pots. I've tried talking to their parents and all they'll do is yell or hit the child. I feel bad at that point. Instead of yelling or hitting them they should just explain that it's rude to do these things and they should respect another person's property. Now for the inside of the apartment. I live in a two bedroom. The bedrooms are a good size, and the living room/ dinning area is ok but it could be a bit larger. The closets are not very large though. The flooring is horrible. In every room there is a cheap blue/ grey laminate tile ;some are beginning to crack and change color. (They never bothered to change the tile before we moved in. Honestly they could have just laid cheap carpet down and I would have been happy.) The kitchen is a reasonable size but there is no counter space so you'll have to put a large rack in there for your appliances. The oven works just fine and can easily heat up to 400 degrees without trouble. There is no garbage disposable so the sink clogs easily if you accidentally drop something in it. The bathroom is small but good enough. The water pressure is bad at times and the heat isn't always constant, it's bare-able though. The heat is ALWAYS on so it gets pretty hot (around 76- 80). I have to leave the windows open during the winter; there is a thermostat but it doesn't work, the office controls all of the heating. Thankfully they turn off the heat in late April. If there is anything broken in the apartment maintenance will take care of it, but you have to stay on them or they will only do half a job. Although they are lazy they are nice people, same with the office workers, they're very friendly. The only thing that bothers me is you need a appointment for EVERYTHING. Even if you are just returning a paper they will ask you to make an appointment even though none of them are busy at the time. Parking is fine but I wouldn't recommend even having a car around here. I've found a bunch of kids trying to take my hubcaps off once, and will sometimes write on the cars or throw things at them. The garbage dumpsters seems to always be full, and when it isn't people will still leave their trash around the dumpster. Gas and electric aren't expensive but cable is and car insurance (surprise surprise). This area gets pretty dangerous during the summer. Two people have been shot and killed within this year, one near my bed room and another near the office. The police now circle the apartment complex so there hasn't been any gun shots lately.

In all honesty, there really isn't anything nice to say about this place except for the office workers who are always pleasant to talk to. I am most certianly happy that I will be moving out once I finish my last two years of college.
