after 2 years...still recommend

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2007
pros: spacious well-designed apartment, friendly front-desk staff (yay, Lamar's back!), beautiful lobby, nice gym and roof deck, convenient location to both Philly and Cherry Hill, fairly responsive maintenance staff (sometimes you have to remind them), convenience store, very good restaurant/bar, pizza shop, Subway, and convenience store on the first floor, safe quiet neighborhood, always comfortable heat/ac. my elect. bill avgs $45/month and I'm not a miser. no other bills but cable/internet.
cons: walls are thin (can't hear normal conversation, but can hear student who plays loud music next door), a bit pricey for Camden but certainly not for Philly. my unit is $1000/month. same unit/same amenities would cost $500 more in Philly (I did the research.) Camden "stigma" if you're the type of person who cares what people think when you tell them you live in Camden, you shouldn't move here. in two years I've personally NEVER heard of or seen any crime in the waterfront district. it certainly exists in other parts of the city, but I don't go there, just as I don't go to crime-ridden parts of Philly. i haven't had any problems with management, but know those who have.
i'm buying a townhouse a block away around the recently beautifully renovated Johnson Park because i like the neighborhood and local residents, and i believe in Camden's future. if you want the "energy" of a city, it's not there yet in Camden, but looks like it's coming soon.
