Ok, so there s this apt. in the victor, you want to rent it & you do everything they want. they wait weeks to get back to you & then tell you that for reasons (that could have been forseen) such as your an undergraduate student, they wouln't rent to you. No big deal right' well it is when they took your 75bucks & could have asked you that up front. What s worse is that you can be 21 years old, work at mcdonalds, sell drugs all day and rent an apartment in the victor, but if your a PreMed honors student who is 27 with great credit & previous apartment records, YOU CAN NOT RENT THERE!
The staff doesn't tell you this up front, & when it's addressed & you realize how inefficient this policy is, you are met with a stone wall of ignorance. they have a building in a low income, university town, overprice there units & expect to be so picky. This is why there are so many units open. DO NOT RENT THERE, ONCE YOUR LOCKED INTO YOUR CONTRACT, IT GETS WORSE!

Please understand that this client did not disclose their undergraduate status when applying for an apartment. Once this was brought to Managements attention the client was contacted immediately. The client was informed of the policy and offered an apartment upon graduation. The client was told that all monies would be refunded immediately. Obviously this client is very upset and chose this site to vent. This person completed an application only and has never lived at The Victor so all comments relating to other Victor tenants and the quality of service is not based on experience. I understand that not everyone agrees with every policy at The Victor. Undergraduates are not permitted to lease an apartment regardless of age, landlord history, academic status, etc. I truly hope this client comes to a better understanding and perhaps reconsiders us for their new home upon graduation.

Sounds like the old Fox and the Grapes story...The grapes were too high for the fox to reach, so he reasoned, they are sour anyhow!

If what this student/prospective renter stated was true about being denied the opportunity to rent at the Victor (and apparently it was based upon the response that appears to be from someone in management at the Victor who was familiar with the situation); he/she should contact someone in the Civil Practice Law Clinic at Rutgers-Camden because he/she clearly has a case for discrimination. The D.C. Human Rights Law of 1977 is widely known as one of the broadest and most powerful civil rights laws in the country. Among other things, it explicitly forbids discrimination on the basis of matriculation -- defined in the law as "the condition of being enrolled in a college, or university..." -- in housing.

There are rules and regulations every where. There is no way Dranoff would be so irresponsible to allow for disrimination practices by his staff. All of the above accusations are ridiculous! signed a resident who cares that the wrong element who cannot prove income be allowed in, who cannot afford the rent does not get in, and who does not want to live with undergraduates. Thems the rules.
