I moved into a 1-bedroom upper unit at Bradford recently, and am coming from a 1-bedroom luxury rental on Long Island. Overall, its a nice layout. The livingroom is spacious, the seperate dining room area is nice to have. The bedroom is a good size and I like having 2 entrances - front and back. The kitchen is a galley style, somewhat small with little counter space and has a crowded feel to it. The cabinets seemed a rush job, some don't fit right, and they are pretty small making it very hard to store a pots and pans if you have many. One coffee machine on my counter uses up all the free space I can afford. The buildings are old, built in the 60's so there is a slight bug problem. I noticed in my newly carpeted, newly furnished kitchen, 2 cockroaches already and I hadn't even brought food in yet! Maintenance is SLOW. I have lived there a month without blinds because they are "on order" and almost 2 months with a non-functional ceiling fan, this is after 5 seperate service requests ("We'll send someone.." ) However, the grounds are spacious, the buildings are on a sort of hill affording a nice view. The area is really nice - there is a little village area less than a mile away; many pretty homes and a woodsy type rural atmosphere. They recently started accepting pets - dogs and cats - which is nice. The main thing is the price. For under $1200 a 1-bedroom of this size is a pretty good deal. Laundry facilities are on the premisis but I prefer to drop it off at a local laundry and have them do it for me, works out cheaper in the end. The place is pretty quiet. So far no problems finding parking right behind or beside my building, although you do get a garage included with your rental. It's a great place to start out if you are saving for a home or to make another move, as in my case.
