Bad TOTALLY Outweighs the Good

I'll start with the good. The apartment was huge and for a great price (1 bdrm w/ den $595)! The maintenance men were very nice to me. They always spoke and held a conversation whenever they saw me. The staff was also nice and actually let me out of my lease early with no problem (though they kept my security deposit but that was a small price to pay for my sanity).
On to the bad part... Model was nothing like my actual unit. In my stupidity as a first time renter I didn't look at my actual unit before I signed the lease. A little after I moved in, the bathroom was "renovated" (looked like all they did was put in some new fixtures and re-caulked the tub). This renovation meant I couldn't use my own shower for 2 weeks until the crew came back and removed the materials. After the first few days I just disregarded their instructions and showered whenever I wanted. The carpet was cheap and shed horribly. The A/C unit would go out every day and not come back on in the middle of summer. One plus was that maintenance came quickly to fix the problem every time I called (that quickness might be attributed to my telling them I'm asthmatic, one of the guys said his daughter was asthmatic and understood how my need for the unit to be fixed). Turns out the circuit breaker was bad so they were flipping the switch every time they came. Relatedly, my electric bill was $293 the first month. When I complained the office said "Did you have your air conditioner on a lot." How ridiculous is that'! How does a 1 bedroom apartment use more electricity than many 3-4 bedroom houses'! Poor wiring. I guess I should have known when I was going on my tour of the complex the lady that worked in the office (she also lived there) said "I better turn my air conditioner off before the electric bill gets too high." I just thought she was cheap... boy was I wrong.
Oh and don't forget the LARGE roaches, some of which flew. When I complained the office said they'd send the exterminator, I didn't see many more roaches (I only stayed another month) but I also didn't see the exterminator. I assume they came though.
THE WORST THING ABOUT GREENTREE IS.... the loud, obnoxious neighbors, many of whom are as others have said not from this country. There were always Corona bottles littered everywhere. People played their music until the wee hours of the morning very LOUDLY! It was like a 48-hour fiesta every weekend (they did tone it down a bit on weekdays but not much).
All in all living in Green Tree was a sobering experience for me. I wouldn't recommend the complex to anyone with children or that wants their apartment home to be quiet. If you don't mind CHEAP building materials, EXPENSIVE utility bills, FLYING ROACHES, beer BOTTLES as far as the eye can see, and loud, inconsiderate neighbors that blast their music at all hours Green Tree is the place for you!!!

Oh my god, i totally agree with "SoniNY" downstairs, if possible, don't move in!!!!
the neighbors are major problem, as loud as club (plus musics are spanish, no body speak english), they always sit in front of my door even I LOOK AT them face to face they still don't care, I've seen people call police three times in a week at 3AM just because they still party OUTSIDE LOUDLY!
another major problem is laundry, here's more than 300 units, and about 16 laundry rooms, but NONE of them work properly, i've complain to the office more than 10 times, but they always said "it's not our problem, you need to call the laundry company" or whatever....----!
plus the office lady is USELESS, she lives here, that's true, no matter what i complain or what problem i have, she always ask me to come back or call back to the office at 5PM, which is.....office closed, obviously, she doesn't want to solve the problem, i really hate her.
I can't wait to move out the first week i move in!!
the only thing i like is the maintainece man, he's nice, that's all....

I agree with soniny, I used to live there myself back in 2004. There were bug infestations, mice, and neighbors from foreign countries who would blast their music all day long 7 days a week with no regards for their neighbors. And OMG don't stay around for the weekend it will sound like a fiesta as you said. I can't help but to laugh at it now. You live and you learn. I was a first time renter myself and got out of my lease. I also had a problem with the air conditioner that would not make the apartment cool. And yes my electric bill was over 200 dollars over the summer. I couldn't take that place anymore. Stay far away from green tree apartments.
