Millbridge is ok, but nothing special.

We've lived in Millbridge now for 6 months. The apparment is large. They put in all new flooring when we came in, and that was nice. However, we spent months trying to get the stink out from the previous owner. The walls were all repainted, but VERY sloppily. It's certainly nothing you'd be proud to have in your own home.
When we moved in, the cabinets and fixtures were filthy, and took days of cleaning to make useable.
Maintenance is usually an issue.
We are without heat or hot water a few times a month. Usually it does get fixed quickly, though.
The dishwasher broke. A man came almost immediately to fix it. He disconnected it, and said he'd be right back with a new one in 15 minutes. Then he left and didn't come back for a month and only after we called 6 times to complain. It took them 2 weeks to fix our dryer. It was overheating to the point where it burned my arm and left a large scar. Only after I told them about the burn (and that I had photo proof of it!) did they send someone out. Our hot water wouldn't turn OFF in bathtub, and they didn't come to fix it for almost 2 weeks, despite many calls to the office. When they DO come to fix things, they're very polite. But after reading other reviews, I'm wondering if I should make sure to be home when they come from now on...my jewelry and my underwear drawer need to stay off limits.
The neighbors range from barely noticable to downright rude. I was awakened at 4AM by my downstairs neighbor my second night in the building, demanding that I come out of the apartment and move my car. I was parked in his space, but my other neighbor was parked in mine, and I had been under the impression that it was a friendly, park-wherever situation. NOT so. If someone parks in a space that is not 'their's' the owner sits in his car and honks his horn at all hours of the night, until the guilty part moves their vechile.
The neighbor children are a sad state. Most of them just sit around the front porches, and yell and scream to eachother across the street (night and day). The younger children are not watched by their parents at all. I see them running out in the street at night, with no jacket, no shoes, no parents around to supervise. And I've threatened to call DYFS if I see my neighbor's daughters playing INSIDE THE DUMPSTER one more time.
On a more positive note, the office staff are relatively friendly. Except for the many times when I called for maintenence help and I KNOW they have written down or done NOTHING, they were satisfactory.
Our first visit, when we were deciding to rent here or not, was extremely plesant. Since then I've sensed that we're being treated a little differently.
The outside appearance of the buildins and surrounding areas are pretty nice. The buildings are relatively modern and pretty, and the outside lighting is (mostly) kept in working order. They do the mowing and edging on Tuesdays, and it looks lovely after they do so. I wish they'd work as hard on the indoor upkeep. I frequently see the maintenance men lounging and talking by the complex's pool, and I wonder who's apartment reparis they're ignoring...
All in all, I'm not totally happy here, but my husband and I look at it as a necessary step in life, until we can buy our own house and leave all this behind.
