You get what you pay for...

Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2004
After almost 4 years here, I'd have to say my stay here has been slightly above average. I live in a 1 bedroom, 2nd floor unit and I definitely recommend an upstairs unit. The last few winters have been very cold outside, and the poor guy downstairs does not get enough heat in the winter. Since heat rises, I'm toasty warm in the winter..if it gets too hot, I'll open a window. The summers are comfortable although I recommend an air conditioner for July and August. The wood floors are nice and easy to clean. The kitchen is a bit small, so don't expect to host too many dinner parties. Besides, the stove I have is probably from 1940, so it's probably going to blow up anyday now. My biggest complaint is about the bathroom. The paint is falling off the walls and ceiling. The toilet sometimes gets into fits where it will run non-stop. It gets so hot in the bathroom in the winter time, that the toilet sometimes sweats so bad that you will come home to a puddle in the bathroom. I probably should have contacted the maintenance team to re-do my bathroom, but I don't want people in my apartment when I'm not there (although most are saying that people come and go in their apartments often, in 4 years, I've never encountered this..at least I don't think I have)..besides I'm leaving this summer for greener pastures.
Another problem I had was the radiators. They are the old fashioned variety and at times can be very noisy, especially early in the winter before the lines are bled. Believe it or not they did get better over time..or maybe I just got used to them. My first year there, there were several sleepless nights where I just wish I could go downstairs with a Louisville slugger and "fix" those pipes myself.
I went almost the whole time with no pest problems..until the people next to me moved a few months ago. Roaches started showing up, but I set some traps and the problem is completely gone..it's always good to live next to clean, neat people, but most of the time you'll never know this until after you are there for a while.
A 1 bedroom apartment definitely has enough space for 1 person..2 people is pushing it.
Parking is OK. Unless you come home late (after 10pm) you should be able to find a spot that is within a 1 minute walking distance to your apartment. It gets a little hairy in the snow, especially with everyone claiming their spots (which is illegal by the way) with items ranging from traffic cones to lawn chairs.
The rent is reasonable. Clifton is a great area. Close to many highways and byways.
Like I said in my summary, you get what you pay for..if you want luxury apartments pay $1300-1500 per month and get a 1 bedroom apartment. If you want to save a few bucks and have a comfortable place to live that isn't perfect, but isn't horrible either, choose the Richfield Village.
