Not a good idea...

I've lived here from 1998-2004. I just dropped off my keys today, and am so happy to be out of here. The first few years were okay, then an outside maintenance company was brought in. From this point onward, things went downhill. Any time you call maintenance to voice a concern, you usually end up getting hung up on. Not very professional.

Let's start with apartment inspections. My apartment was being inspected at a rate of twice a year, claiming to be either a HUD inspection or NJ State inspection (both of which who I called and knew nothing about these inspections). If you expect any kind of privacy here, forget about it. Sometimes you will receive a notice that they will have to enter your apartment, sometimes you get the notice AFTER they have entered you apartment.

Their favorite thing to do appears to be painting. If you decide to live here, prepare to have your apartment painted YEARLY, and if you decline, they will threaten you with a fine of $75,000!! Last time my apartment was painted it took them 4 weeks to accomplish the task. Yes, >4< weeks. You can imagine the privacy level when you have 3-5 painters in your apartment everyday for 4 weeks. They managed to get plaster all over everything in the apartment, managed to RUIN my air conditioner, since we were in a heat wave when they were painting, and ran my AC full blast with all the windows and doors open. The block of ice on my AC could have sunk the Titanic. If you're still considering moving here, let me go on...

You'll be lucky to find a parking spot anywhere near your apartment unless you get home before everyone else. Also, have fun trying to use one of the very few laundry rooms they provide. The reason for this- more people in one apartment than belong there.

Snow/Ice removal is useless. I did it myself most of the time, to save me and my neighbor's from falling and getting hurt. They'll usually shovel, but not until most people have already waited long enough and done it themselves already.

Crime has also increased in the area greatly in the past few years, I usually see a cop chasing someone through the complex at least once a week now.

There is no control over your heat. It is usually on full blast when it is 40 degrees out, and off when it is 10 degrees out. This in turn causes condensation, and you can not believe the rate at which mold, thick BLACK mold grows in these apartments. Of course, they just paint over it, rather then rectifying the problem. Their answer to everything seems to be paint. When there are cracks in the wall, which re-appear ALL the time, they just paint over them, instead of addressing the problem that perhaps maybe the building is falling down and that's why the cracks keep coming back.

You'll also get a fair share of roaches, etc, so don't think you'll never see any creepy-crawlies. I'd recommend a cat to combat these, but you're not even allowed to have a pet here anymore. I won't even get into how I think the painters tortured my cat beyond him being locked up in a 90 degree bathroom, because they were "afraid" of him.

Now, there also seems to be alot of people there who refuse to abide by the lease terms, and nothing is done about it. I see people leave garbage bags on their front porch for days (too lazy to walk to dumpster, I suppose and leaves quite a stench). I've also seen crowds having PARTIES behind apartments (cranking music, yelling kids, the works...) This is allowed in the BBQ area, but not just anywhere you please. The apartments should be renamed Slum Village or Projects Village, since that's what it has become.

So from someone who's lived here for many years, and has known plenty of other people who have lived here, and have seen the same things in every apartment, I seriously advise you to look elsewhere.

I posted my own review but forgot to mention that I have not seen a single bug or had any mold problems, or had neighbors leaving garbage on the porch since living here. Also i have yet to see a cop "chasing" people through the development. I have noticed that if you atempted to do laundary on saturday afternoon it's tough but that's because that's the day everyone decides to do their laudary. If you use the launday rooms any other night of the week you won't have problems.
