Charmless, very small, and overpriced due to lack of amenities

The wooden floors are beautiful and a great improvement over the nasty wall-to-wall in most apartments. However, these apartments are old (built 1950's) with teeny-tiny kitchens and bathrooms which probably will not have upgraded fixtures, although they lure you with that possibility in the interview. The kitchen cabinets are yucky with 19 coats of paint on them and beyond filthy tops - the people who prep the apartments for new tenants have obviously never climbed up to clean off the tops!! I found old mouse traps and layers of grease - revolting!!! No dishwasher, and only 3 laundry rooms for the entire complex, which are not kept clean. I'm not sure they are ever cleaned. The living/dining room is also tiny (the model has a dining table for 2), although the bedrooms are nicely sized, oddly enough. The closet space is not great but we personally have no problem with it. The noise is horrendous - we hear our neighbors constantly! And, get cats because you will have mice & bugs - ours have done a good job so far, but if we didn't have them... Also, the cable wires for the 2nd floor apts are run through the first floor apts, so if you have a less-than-honest downstairs neighbor, good luck with that. Too old in a beat-up tired way, not old in a nice charming way, and too small and not enough features to be paying over $900 for a 2-bedroom.
