I'VE LIVED HERE APPROXIMATELY 5 YEARS NOW. ITS UNREAL HOW ITS CHANGED WITH THE NEW MANAGER, BILL. MY NEIGHBOR RECENTLY LOST HER JOB AND SEARCHED UNTIL SHE FOUND SOMETHING. BECAUSE SHE WAS 2 WEEKS BEHIND IN RENT (2 WHOLE WEEKS!!) THE SHERIFFS DEPT CAME AND SERVED HER WITH EVICTION PAPERS. SHE BOROWED MY PHONE TO CALL OFFICE. WOMAN NAMED JANE WAS COMPLETELY RUDE TO HER THEN PUT BILL ON PHONE. HE WAS EVEN WORSE. TOLD THIS POOR WOMAN TO MOVE WHERE SHE CAN AFFORD AND LET SOMEONE MOVE IN HERE WHO CAN PAY!!

ITS ALREADY OCTOBER 17TH AND EVEN THOUGH THE WEATHER IS NICE DURING THE DAY, ITS VERY COLD AT NIGHT INSIDE. WE HAVE NO HEAT BUT THE OFFICE RADIATORS ARE HEATED. TENANTS HAVE GONE SO FAR AS TO CALL POLICE AND CONTACT OUR LOCAL RENT CONTROL COORDINATOR. "TRUTH IN RENTING" SAYS HEAT GOES ON OCT 1ST. BILL KEEPS HIS OFFICE NICE AND COZY BUT SOME OF US OLDER RETIRED TENANTS ARE VERY COLD AT NIGHT. WE'RE SIMPLY TOLD TO "BUNDLE UP" WHILE THE OFFICE STAFF WALKS AROUND IN SHORT SLEEVES ALL DAY.

MOST TENANTS HAVE ORGANIZED TO SIGN A PETITION TO SEND TO THE NORTH JERSEY COMPLEX OWNERS ASKING (PLEADING) FOR THIS NEW MANAGER TO BE REMOVED. THE MANAGER BEFORE HIM WAS WONDERFUL, SHE HAD FANTASTIC BUSINESS SENSE. ALL THIS NEW MANAGER DOES IS TALK BAD ABOUT HER TO OTHER TENANTS. INCLUDING MYSELF. HE ALSO SAYS NEGATIVE THINGS REGARDING ONE TENANT TO ANOTHER. HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL, NOT SURE WHERE THEY FOUND THIS MAN BUT PITTING ONE TENANT AGAINST ANOTHER SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT HIS CHARACTER.

TAKE A LOOK AT THE OUTSIDE. THESE APARTMENTS ARE OLD. INSIDE THEY ARE JUST AS BAD. VERY OLD PLUMMING. NO WATER PRESSURE. HIGHLY OUTDATED ELECTRIC. CANT RUN TWO ITEMS AT THE SAME TIME OR YOU BLOW A CIRCUIT. DRAFTY WINDOWS THAT BLOW IN WHEN ITS SEVERELY WINDY. CREAKY HARDWOOD FLOORS WHOS BOARDS SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED 10 YEARS AGO!!

HE'S HIGHLY DECORATED THE OFFICE GROUNDS SO THAT IT LOOKS APPEALING YET YOUR EMPTY WILL LOOK NOTHING LIKE PROMISED WHEN YOU GO TO MOVE IN. MAINTANANCE IS ALLOWED TO GOOF OFF ALL DAY. THEY SIT IN THEIR VEHICLES AND USE THEIR CELL PHONES SOMETIMES FOR AN HOUR AT A TIME.

MOST MORNINGS BILL CAN BE FOUND WALKING AROUND THE COMPLEX (ESPECIALLY WHERE I AM ON THE 100 SIDE) LOOKING INTO PEOPLE VEHICLES AND SCANNING APARTMENTS. ONE WONDERS EXACTLY WHAT HE'S LOOKING FOR AT THAT TIME OF THE MORNING.

THIS PLACE WAS WONDERFUL WHEN I MOVED IN. WAS PRETTY GOOD (OTHER THAN HEAT AND PLUMMING ISSUES THAT ARE RECENT) UNTIL NEW MANAGEMENT ARRIVED. MOVE HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK. IF YOU'RE BEHIND IN RENT, YOU GET NOTHING DONE. YOU CAN HAVE A SEWER LEAK AND BE TOLD (AS WAS MY NEIGHBOR LAST YEAR) THAT IT'LL BE FIXED WHEN HIS RENT IS CURRENT.

IF THATS WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR IN HOUSING, THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE. KEEP IN MIND THAT WE NOW HAVE SOME OF THE HIGHEST RENTAL RATES LOCALLY, WITH NOTHING TO OFFER FOR IT. OTHER LOCAL PLACES INCLUDE HEAT, HOT WATER, ELECTRIC, GAS, WALL TO WALL CARPET, GARBAGE DISPOSAL, DISHWASHER, SELF CLEANING OVENS, FROST FREE REFRIG/FREEZERS....NONE OF THESE THINGS ARE OFFERED HERE. ITS BARE BONES AT THIS COMPLEX. I AM FORCED TO STAY HERE BECAUSE I AM ON A FIXED INCOME AND CANT AFFORD TO MOVE. IF I COULD, I'D GIVE IMMEDIATE NOTICE.

I don't know the new manager this person dislikes so much however I continue to have friends at Haddon Hills since I bought a house and moved away FROM THE HILLS. My friends still like the place and have mentioned the new manager has improved some of the grounds. I can tell you that Haddon Hills is still the least costly place to live in the area contrary to this users review. It is true that the place offers no frills but it's in an area where the average home is way out of reach of the typical student, young family or working class person. I bought a modest starter home in the same town as Haddon Hills when we moved out and the property taxes alone are twice that I paid in rent. As far as the comments about oven and freezers - our oven was self cleaning and the freezer was frost free. We didn't have carpet but we did have beautiful hardwood floors. Yes, the rental rates go up year to year but only within the rent control percentages. As far as rent goes- the rent was never paid to the office. The rent went directly to the realty folks who own the place. I doubt that unless your a regular problem for paying your rent the office won't even know who is in fact late. Right after 9-11 my rent check was not deposited for some reason. After three weeks I called the office and they said to just write another check. No problem at all. Now- regards the above message, if the sheriff came to serve an eviction notice to this writers friend and neighbor, as this user writes then that person was several months behind in rent at least. Thats simply how the law works in NJ- and even then such a person, if fallen on hard times, has several legal options to remain for some time. I also doubt the statement that the heat wasn't turned on my the required legal date. The heat in that complex can't just be switched on and off. It's a huge system of boilers and such. The staff have a schedule for turning it on in the fall and it would require several people knowingly breaking the law to keep it off past the legal date. Thats just not realistic. Lastly, if your on a fixed income this is a perfect place to live. You can calculate your future rent simply by asking Haddon Township what the rent control rate is. The complex can't raise it above this percent for current renters. The town could set the rate higher but I don't think they ever have and it's unlikely in this economy that they would do so.
