Some things dont change

Years at this apartment: 1993 - 1993
Heres a blast from the past. I grew up at the Sutton Towers Apartments in the mid 70s thru early 80s. I went to Sharp and Newbie, then Colls Jr and Sr. High. I moved to Texas in about 82. The elevators you are using now, are probably the ones they put in in about 1979. The stairwells smelled like urine then too. The laundry room was beyond ugly, but everything seemed to work. Security was better then, I knew most of the guards on a first name basis. I earned a meal or two by using the "you fly, Ill buy" method. Running to the BK and getting something for myself. Maintanance was quick, but it was an old building then too. I cant imagine the problems these guys must encounter trying to repair 60 year old equipment. When I lived there, the biggest population was retired folks, and some military from the philly navy base. Kids were a problem then too, and probably always will be. The town was just as boring then, which I think causes a lot of the problems. There are laws against everything in that town, and I have personnally been chewed out by local cops for using the bbq grill at Newton Lake without a permit. I remember the concrete playgrounds, with antique equipment. I lived at 417b, and we always had roaches. Never saw mice, but the image of roaches walking around in our silverware will never leave my mind. The security system they put in in about 1978 was a joke too. Each tennant had a code which would unlock the door. The maintanance people had their own code, which we would easily obtain to get access to all four buildings. Its strange that most of the negative comments are toward C building. It had the worst rep when I lived there too. Vey strange. Parking was not a problem, but a few cars were broken into. The garage under the "plaza" was an extra charge, and was no more secure then the lot outside. The stores on the "plaza" were overpriced. I think they were taking advantage of the older people who could not go the regular grocery store.
