WORST APARTMENT COMPLEX EVER!

Take it from someone who has spent many years in these apartments, they are terrible (to say the least). Obviously you can't expect to be living in luxury in a garden apartment but you should expect for everything to be maintained (notice I didn't even say maintained well...that would be asking for way too much). I have seen the transition in supers and seen many residents come and go. The supers as of right now are discriminatory and speak negatively about the residents to one another and to their families and friends. They are quite frankly, rude and inconsiderate. I witnessed an incident wherein the super went up to another resident (that happened to be crying TO HERSELF QUIETLY on her steps) and told her, "whatever it is just get over it and cry inside, don't do this on my steps!" As you can see...not the type of person you would want to deal with. I, and a few other tenants, have had issues with the ceiling in the bathroom falling apart and falling down in clumps. After several (approximately 10...literally) calls to the super I make calls to building management who referred me back to the super and advised the issue would be taken care of immediately. The super finally came to address the issue and spackled over the decaying ceiling and off he went (I could have easily done that). Of course the issue was not resolved and the ceiling again started to fall down in clumps (imagine how you would feel if you had your ceiling falling down in clumps while you were showering...not to mention the fact that when you got out of the shower you had a cramp in your neck from spending the whole time looking up...terrified the entire thing would cave in). Again another attempt to have the issue fixed by placing NUMEROUS telephone calls and yet again requiring calls to management who were quite frustrated I was calling them again about the same issue and again advised the problem would be fixed. Again he came and again the same "fix". I addressed him about his "solution" and advised that the problem needed to be resolved and if spackling was all it took I would have done it myself. He shrugged me off and basically said oh well its fixed. Of course it happened again and finally they came and cut out parts of the ceiling to see what was causing the decay and terribly patched the ceiling back together...needless to say the problem is still not really fixed. Other then that serious issue of the building decaying, supers not caring and being quite rude, loss of a sense of community (this used to be a place wherein everyone knew one another and was quite friendly with one another, children all played together, sat out on the steps together during the summer, etc.) and poorly maintained apartments, this would be a great place to live if you like living in the projects. Many residents have said (and continue to say) that these apartments are overpriced projects. Its really quite sad that in a town as beautiful as Denville you have such horribly maintained grounds. The other thing that I find quite amusing is that the management is always so concerned about taking care of the outside grounds that they completely disregard the insides. For example, they are CONSTANTLY planting shrubs and plants that are going to just die anyway (because they don't regularly water them) and painting the doors to an ugly color that doesn't go with the brick at all. The management is so unbelievably cheap that they fix everything half assed. Also, if they don't like you (and usually the reasoning has no basis) they will raise the rent extremely high in comparison to what you paid previously. There is no real Statute in the State of New Jersey stating rent increases can only be so much but there is a general percentage that everyone seems to go by and if they don't like you, you can be sure to have a large increase when your new lease comes. So with all being said I definitely wouldn't recommend this as a place to live for anyone...quite frankly I think every apartment needs to be gutted and completely redone. I am definitely on my way out as many others have done and will continue to do until a group of people come in who don't care or they actually realize its time to straighten up and take care of their buildings.

I am very surprised to read the other reviews as most people I have spoken to "hate" it here. I can only assume the reviews were written by the supers or by management...such a shame!

I definately agree with you. I lived in these apartments for almost ten years and had constant problems with my bathroom ceiling breaking and falling in on me and my living room ceiling also. I have been gone a year now and it was the best decision I could have made. The maintenance people WONT fix your problem without relentless phone calls and when they do its only a temporary fix. Knowing what I know now. My only regret is not reporting them to the Board of Health for the poor living conditions.
