I have lived here for 3 years. When we first moved in we were excited. It seemed like such a nice place. Within a months time, things began falling off the walls (toilet paper holder, towel rod, baseboard). My husband looked at everything and realized that whoever did the maintenance on the apt had just drilled screws into sheetrock and not into beams.
There were huge open spaces on the sides of all the air conditioners so if anyone wants to, they can see inside our house.
We put little chairs on our patio for our kids to sit on and they were sending us letters that we have to remove our "toys" and we are being charged $100.00 a month for each month we leave the chairs there. They were child camping chairs, not toys.
Before we left for a 4 day vacation I made sure that my cat had access to her litter box. When we got home, the bathroom door was closed and the cat couldn't get to her litter box. Also, there had been a small crack in the wood on my front door. When we got home, the piece of wood had been bent back and was hanging off. (which i'm sure when we move they will try to charge us for.) So, the maintenance men have free run of your house when they know you're not home.
I have come home to my doors being unlocked (which i know i didn't leave unlocked).
They did repairs on my patio roof and walked in thru my house (knocking things off my table) without giving me notice. They didn't move my patio furniture or plants. They killed all my plants and destroyed my chairs. There was wood and paint chips inside the dirt of my plants and it looked like they stepped on my bonzai tree.
The carpet they use is the cheapest brand you can buy. If you walk out of your bathroom after a shower with wet feet, the carpet turns black where the water touched.
The walls were not painted with paint before we moved in. It's a primer so if you bump your shoulder on the wall it leaves a black mark (along with anything else that touches the wall). My husband is a mechanic. God forbid he touch the walls. The primer absorbs the oil from his hands and you cannot scrub the marks off the wall.
Every year the fridge stops working. I have lost over $400.00 worth of food twice so far. When we called and asked them for a new fridge they said we would have to wait until the next day. When we said, well what do we do with the food that we have' They said... find somewhere to keep it. We had to buy a cooler to keep some things for us and the kids to eat and than drive 2 towns away to our family to store our food in their freezer.
When they finally brought me a new fridge it was covered in dirt and some kind of yellow slime. I had to scrub it for 3 hours before I could get it clean enough to put my food in.
When my upstairs neighbors shower sewage comes up thru the stand up shower in my bedroom bathroom. Once a week I am forced to scrub crap out of a shower that none of us will ever use b/c of what comes out of it.
My rent has gone up almost $300.00 in 3 years.
The apartment appears to be a nice size with a huge living room, but the living room and dining room are in a large L shape...which leaves you with what appears to be an entire room of unusable space.
There is only one closet for storage and you are not allowed to keep anything outside. (so we have childrens bikes and scooters cluttering the house).
My Brother In Law moved in the complex not too long ago. While on his honeymoon, his housesitter got locked out. 6 hours later maintenance still hadn't arrived to help so my husband had to go over to help him break in.

I want to move so badly, but I'm saving to buy a home and I do not want my kids to have to switch schools again when we finally do buy a place.

So, Renter Beware!!! It looks like a lovely place to live when they take you on a tour.

i moved to Wyndmoor into a renovated apartment three weeks ago and my toilet paper holder was NEVER really attached to the wall! My toilet has backed up and overflowed 22 times already! I quickly spin in a circle and grab my bathroom rug and basket with towels as the water pours over. Its not like we can wash our cloths easy....let alone throw a wet, toilet bowl soaked rug in the washing machine really quick! Due to the fire in 2007... there are men outside my bedroom every day AND my air conditioner also has lovely large gaps on each side , which allows me to see their faces in the parking lot from my bed! They love to look in too! UGH The carpet is disgusting!! It has destroyed my 300 dollar vacuum cleaner! It gets stuffed with hard crusty fuzz... almost like it was burned when they steam cleaned it for the renovation. The other night i stood on my little cracked up porch and yelled into the night "THIS APARTMENT SUCKS"!
