Good
Apartment is good, maintenance is quick.
Bad
The apartment has exclusive cable, phone and Internet deals with Verizon Avenue and MDU.
If you want to upgrade to digital cable, you have to pay
1> $50 installation charge
2> $9 wire maintenane fee (!')
3> Additional Programming charges
If you want faster Internet say FIOS or COMCAST, you cannot get it. You are stuck with the exclusive contract. And even the services provided by the exclusive contract are not great, and yet you are forced to pay $75. It is the slowest Internet I have ever had. They simply won't let you to upgrade.
If you want to be stuck with the worst services available as far as Internet, Phone or Cable is concerned then Liberty Terrace is the place.
In fact I wonder what the FCC is doing about it because they ruled in Sep 2007 that exclusive contracts are illegal. When I asked the apartment management about the ruling, they said they don't care and hung up upon me.

I lived at Liberty Terrace about 3 years ago. I also wasn't too fond of this exclusive contract. I now live at another location owned by the same corporation that owns Liberty Terrace. It's the same thing as far as exclusivity. I must say, you're lucky you were able to have Verizon. WE are stuck with a new company called Pavlov Media who's customer service is the worst! We can't go with any other subscriber, we pay $75/month PLUS the additional cost for extra channels and HD TV. Our cable/internet bill ends up being about $150/month and that doesn't even include TELEPHONE!! So, I feel your frustration although I must say, besides the exclusivity, the complex is a great place to live. Rent may be high, but that's what you pay for the location being so close to NYC.

You had to pay for cable, wow.... note sarcasm and lack of surprise. It's not like you didn't sign the lease with out knowing all this and because of that your experience was a one? Pretty sad. All these complaints are more like complaints about how much cable/telephone companies charge...
