Our family has lived here for a while and mostly because we can't afford to live anywhere else. The rent here is like a thousand dollars but, in my opinion is NOT wirth the price. The buildings are not built well and seem to be just really needing a LOT of revovation. There are problems always with the water pipes and leaks and the electrical wiring is old-fahshioned and I think is aluminum wiring. We get problems with outlets and fixtures. The appliances are old and out-dated. To be honest when we moved in, I seriously doubted that they did more than give the place a cheap coat of paint and that's it. The carpeting was mashed completely flat and had stains. There are soft spots on the floors in rooms as if they had bad water damage, possibly from leaking or burst water pipes in the past. Yes, as another poster said you do get the big centipeded in the warm weather months and the occasional problem with ants but I never found that to be a big deal because I figure it's better than getting roaches. I have not seen any mice in our unit. As another poster complained, the maintenence here SUCKS. They will take their time coming over to fix a problem and when they do come over they do cheap patch jobs. They give you the hardes time about replacing things that need to be replaced. We've lived here a while and they have never paited or put in new carpeting. It is ugly and outdated and really angers me that that they charge so much to live in what I would describe as a "dump". They only really good thing I can say about the place is that is IS in a nice neighborhood and I feel safe here. As far as I know there are no drugs problem, it's fairly quiet and very little is any crime (we did have a couple car break-ins a few years back where kids stole car stereos from some neighbors and stuff). I have not heard too much noise from neighbors so I don't know if the walls are thick enough or maybe I just have quiet neighbors. They do seem to pay the most attention to the exterior landscaping to "keep up appearances" I'm guessing. The one thing that really bothered me was when the managament had taken a different unit for themselves a few years back. For three months, I watched the daily seeming to completely renovate that entire unit from top to bottom with new appliances, carpeting, cabinetry etc. I believe that the management and maintenece staff are related and they seem to only bother keeping their own units nicely and do little if anything for the PAYING tenants. We always are made to feel like they might find some excuse to evict us if we complain too much about the situation here and how they don't maintain ir repair things. They don't say so but they sure give you a hard time about getting anything done and seem pretty rude when they do come over. They never have sent any actualy reoair men over but just some seemingly inexperience people that they know of as if they are doing repair on the cheap. The guys never know what they are doing. A lot of times they argue with you and say something has no problem or that they see no problem with whatever you have called them over to look at. I forgot to mention that the units are pretty small and there is very little storage space. Also, they have the laundry facilities in the basement here and the stairs are steep. The washers and dryers seem kinda old and some don't work real well. They do allow pets here but I was told only cats and no dogs, though I have seen the management with a dog on occasion.
