Bad Management

I rented here at the recommendation of some co-workers. While the gentleman who handled my tour and paperwork was totally professional and the apartments boast individual garages, high ceilings and good-size rooms, the term luxury stops there. Linoleum floors and formica counters, no backsplashes and cheap mini blinds don t say luxury, plus they charge extra for internet connections which are included elsewhere and which are down at least once a month with no rebate for time lost, and they advertise free phone service which is free for about 40 feet off their property! They have a tiny fitness center and small outdoor pool with no tennis courts and a billiards room that closes at 5 pm! But what pushed me not to renew my lease was management. It seems the 65ish on-site manager is arbitrary in applying the rules and assessing fines. This includes rent increases. The rent always went up but it went up at different rates for special people. My co-workers jokingly referred to her as Ms Cougar. If you were handsome or had connections, she fawned all over you. If not, she wouldn t take your calls. One time someone in maintenance did a quick and attentive repair I requested. When I ran into the manager and asked her to pass along my compliments, saying I wouldn t want to lose him if he worked for me, she responded by saying, Oh he s not going anywhere. They work here because they can t go anywhere else. I was faxing some papers one day in the business office and overheard her light into one of her staff which made me uncomfortable and was unprofessional. And you wait forever for whatever part of your security deposit you get back. Don t count on getting all of it because no matter how well you leave the apartment she finds things to charge you for. My advice would be to shop around if you are moving into the area. There are lots of condo and private home rentals through local realtors to choose from and other nice enough apartment communities.

Hi. I seem to have had the same problems as you had. Same problems with the manager (God awful frankly) and security deposit was not returned, even though apartment was left in perfect condition. We should sue these idiots. I'd back you on this one.

I thought I was alone in thinking exactly the same way regarding the manager. I limited myself to using the office only on weekends when the manager was off. There was a guy there on Saturdays and a woman on Sundays who were comfortable to deal with, a different atmosphere than during the week. I'm in HR work and know a real measure of a manager's effectiveness is to measure the tone of the staff when she is present and not present. As we say in the business, "she must have pix to keep her position."

It seems as though there is something deeper going on here than what is being written. I don't know what this writer's problem is, but I have always found the staff to be extremely nice and helpful -- and there's no manager that I know of in their sixties here. The manager does a great job and is always professional and treats everyone fairly. The premises are extremely well kept and the fitness rooms is perfect for the size of the community. My apartment is beautiful and I feel good every time I drive into the community. I just wonder why some people have to be so negative.

has anyone tried the community nearby - Evergreen? I moved from The Woods to there for basically the same reasons listed above. The apartments are a little smaller, but ALOT less! The complex is nice, and the office and maintenenace staff are nice, too.

You know the old saying you can't please everyone no matter how hard you try, I think it applies here. I recently was transferred and had to move but I still have friends that live at the Woods and we all agree it is a great place to live. As a matter of fact one of them moved from Evergreen to the Woods and said the Woods is a thousand times better. I always tried to attend the parties they had in the clubhouse and the manager and staff were always very friendly to everyone. I didn't have a problem with getting my security deposit back in full. Do yourself a favor and check it out for yourself.

If you came from Sunrise Bay you would think you died and went to heaven here. I love, love, love it here. Never had a problem with office staff, although I was not sorry to see the guy had left he got a little short with me at times. Maintenance is very quick, and professional. The grounds are the best in the area, kept beautiful. I would recommend The Woods to anyone. Very quiet, and I live on Bally Bunion. The only thing I would change is the children have no designated area to play I think a playground would be nice. I also feel that they should upgrade the kitchen counters and yes the blinds are cheap I was very suprised at that.
