CAN YOU SAY AWFUL'''

I had the displeasure of living in the Fairmount for one month, so how will I begin.

First: This place operates on on two pipe heating cooling system, for those who don't know what this means it means either the Heat is on or the Cold is on. And when it is 45 at night but 80 during the day, like we had this fall, you only have a 50/50 chance of being comfortable.

Second: The street noise is awful. Don't kid yourself, Elizabeth is still "da hood". The 24 hour Walgreens and Shell Station across the street attract inconsiderate people, the COCO BONGO down the road and the general "shady" element of Newark Ave causes police sirens at all hours of the night. I was above the 10 floor and was woken up many times. I won't even mention the car alarms in the parking lot.

Third: The elevators are slower than slow and worked only 70% of the time.

Fourth: "Do you really need to take a hot shower every morning'" They must try to save money cause on temperate days the hot water was not hot.

Fifth: Parking, you never knew if your car was going to be towed or broken into. My room mate's car was towed because the towing service didnt see his sticker, my guest's car was towed because the Rental Agent dated his guest parking pass wrong.

Sixth: Laundry Room - Don't bother using if you want your clothing to be clean after washing. The washers and dryers are not the cleanest and the floor always had dirt on it. This is next to a emergency exit that flooded every time it rained, I think there is a mold issue here since the room smelled like dank.

Overall these apartments are not the greatest, they tend to attract, non-english speaking tennants many of which have too many people living in a unit (my next door neighbor had a one bedroom apt with 5 people living there). The office staff doesn't return calls, was slow in processing my application (it took 3 weeks) and was basically uncaring.

There are a few good tennants who are friendly and nice, but mostly the place is not worth the hassels

I agree totally with this review, and I think he or she forgot to mention the prostitutes that bring their customes in the parking lot, and leave the place full of used condoms. The maintanence is terrible, no elevators for days, no heat, no A/C, what a nightmare that place is, I cannot explain how they have the nerve to use the word "luxury"...
