Thanks for reading this message.
I feel it is my duty to WARN you that Elmwood Village is not the place for you, or anyone! I beg you to please run for the hills and continue looking for decent housing elsewhere...As for the "YES" posts that you see, I am almost certain 1/2 are false and were posted by the office staff.

*WARNING* *WARNING* *WARNING* *WARNING*

* Get ready to pay up to $680 for parking, because THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO PARKING. I am convinced that those who do find off-street parking don't have jobs and keep their cars parked 24/7.
* Get ready to take showers with freezing water
* Get ready to freeze because the heat is constantly not working, or it's too low (you don't have control over it, maintenance does)
* Get ready to walk on dog poop at least once a month
* Get ready to fear for your safety because of gangs and other criminals
* Get ready to fear for your safety because of very old locks on your main door
* Get ready to feel unsafe because the front door [shared between 1st and 2nd floor tenants] has no key!
* Get ready to continue fearing for your safety when walking in the dark courtyards at night
* Get ready to live with king-sized roaches, spiders and ants, etc. Oh, and strange tiny insects that I've never seen before...
* Get ready to be haunted by squirrels [if you end up on the 2nd floor as there is an attic above the 2nd floor]. The attic WILL BE filled with what feels/sounds like 50 squirrels building a mansion and having a party above you -- it's actually pretty scary at night!]
* Get ready to have a nasty old tub
* Get ready to share an entry way with a stinky, loud neighbor (lucky me and my family)
* Get ready to take a shower with mold on the ceiling and walls. You will breathe this toxic mold....I feel sorry for those who have babies and children or anyone with breathing problems
* Get ready for your requests to be ignored by the management staff. Lookin' back, WE SHOULD HAVE SUBMITTED ALL OUR REQUESTS IN WRITING because the staff lies and claims they never spoke with you about maitenance requests! EVEN IF YOU CALLED ABOUT A REQUEST NUMEROUS TIMES!! Their philosophy is "1st stall, then lie, then deny"
* Get ready to have a door bell that does not work. You will see a doorbell, but it doesn't work!! Is that legal'''
* Get ready to be dazzled by the professional-looking rental office and the walkway leading up to the office. That's where the professionalism stops! As for your walkway, it will be filled with mud, squirrels and dog poop! Oh, and your walls and doors will have about 10 layers of paint.
* Get ready to have the narrowest kitchen that was ever built. At first we thought it would be ok, but once you move in, you will discover it's a total nightmare!
* Get ready to feel like a complete moron for paying so much money for so little!
* Forgive me if I've forgotten anything!

Good luck and don't say I didn't warn you!

Everything this review says is correct. I've lived in this hell hole for years because I can't afford anything else but as soon as I can move I am outta there. Asking management for help with anything is a complete waste of time. The receptionists are "surly" (that's as nice a word as I can come up with) in response to any issues you may have. They will ignore your maintenance problems and blow you off until you give up or move. Remember when people answering phones were courteous? Well, Elmwood Village has the most discourteous staff around.

i agree.. I live there also and management office sucks. The lady that thinks she is the boss, is so arrogant and rude and doesnt care about any concerns you may have. I cant wait until my lease is up. I also have been waiting for a parking spot, going on a year now, whatever... i hope many people read this and changes are made.. I feel bad for those people thinking that is a great place to place. the only thing good is that its in bergen county and the schools are good, its pretty quite around my way, but the management sucks.....
