A nice and quiet community if you are not on a budget and don't have to commute to NYC

Avalon Crest is a very nice complex. It is quiet and serene. The buildings are well built and constructed. I rarely hear my neighbors and the rooms are well insulated and sealed. It also has an indoor half court basketball court, which I used frequently. I only wished thed would turn the a/c on in the court. The gym on the premise is a joke and the complex charges a mandatory annual fee of $450 for the facility.

As far as the staffs are concerened, the maintenance staff is very responsive and expedient. I would give the maintenance staff A for their service. As for the rental/office staff, they merit B to B- for their efforts. The office staff is not comprised of the most capable people; I have had a few dealings with them and they have fumbled and flopped on those occasions; i.e. they called me three days before I was to move in, and a month after I signed the lease, to inform me that my apartment was not ready due to their vacation/holiday schedule and wanted to know whether it would be very inconvenient for me to camp out at a hotel for a week, with all my furnitures and personal belongings, at my expense.
Also, they are not upfront. Their was a murder in the building. I saw a fleet of police cars in the complex and reporters camped outside of the complex, but the office never notified the tenants of the incident and used every means cover up the incident.

The drawbacks are the rental price and the inconvenient commute to NYC (plan about 1hr to 1 1/2 hour just to get into the city (to the Port Authority bust terminal on 42nd st., add another 1/2 hour to the commute, if you need to take a subway to get to work, depending on where you work in the city.)
Also, parking can become a hassel. The complex charges for each parking spot and the parking space may not always be close to your building.
