Horrible Place To Live

Repairs don't get done. In February, there was a leak coming through my light fixture from the toilet upstairs - brown water dripping on my head every time I tried to go to the restroom. It took three weeks of calling each day leaving messages that never got returned. Finally they came to "repair" once my mother who doen't even live here went to the office for me; as I had to work, and complained. They claimed not to get a single call. All they wanted to do was replace the light bulb after the fixture dried out in a few days. I politely requested a new fixture, as I felt this was a fire hazard. Yes, they replaced the fixture, but as of July the water damage and brown stains are still on the ceiling and down the entire wall. They have had my permission to enter even if I am not at home all along - so this is not an excuse.

My biggest complaint though is the shady practices of the management company. If you are more than 13 days late with rent, they send you an eviction notice. You have to pay a $50 late fee, $162 "other fee", and $300 lawyer fee in order to prevent going to court. I was only late by three weeks, and only one time. No call to warn me that this was coming, and I received all notices after the grace period of 2 whole days was already expired - this would have only prevented the $300 lawyer fee. Oh, BTW if you are receiving rental assistance, you can go for months without paying a dime before you get a notice. I guess this explains why almost every person here is on rental asisance. Also, when they do finally pay the money due, they waive the late fees for them. So if you are on rental assistance, this may be just the place!

Ground are filthy - bottles, broken glass, dog doo (even though dogs aren't "allowed" - there are many dogs here- so don't worry about coming here if you have a dog either - they don't care) and butts everywhere. Loud tenents all hours of the night. Many tenants have serious mental conditions. Many apartments have 8 or more people living in a one bedroom apartment. Police coming to domestic disturbances is almost a nightly occurance. Maintenance wokers who work and live in development, gossip about tenant's private issues with neighbors. I had to find out from my neighbor that I was going to get evicted - two weeks before the notice ever came, and the rent had long since been paid.

Not safe for children. Very young kids in development roam around all day long with no parental supervision - heartbreaking to see. The other day I watched as two young boys tried to climb down into the storm drain - right after a huge storm. Older kids outside all hours of the night - yelling and using foul language. I won't let my seven year-old son play outside alone for a minute.

Totally disgusted, and cannot wait until my lease is up so I can get out of this dump! I moved here from out of state, and did not know any better - please do not make the same mistake I made.
