I've lived here for just under a year. My belief is that "It is what you make it." So, I painted all of my rooms and did what repairs I could. It's NOT horrible. I've seen worse. Here are my list of pro's and con's.

Pro's:
-everything you need is within a five minute drive
-snow removal is excellent
-beautiful view of the mountains
-Centenary College is VERY close by
-NO roaches or mice
-plenty of parking
-dishwasher in "new" section
-landscape maintenence is nice
-central air in "new" section
-heat/hot water included in "old" section

Con's:
-HORRIBLE laundry room. The machines in my builiding were constantly broken, cold, wet, and very, very, dirty.
-The "deck" (should be called the "death trap") is ready to crack in half and WILL give you splinters.
-Neighbors can be loud, but this goes with any apartment. There are some units around here that hold two familes when it should only hold two people.
-Canadian geese are EVERYWHERE. It's like walking through a mine field when trying to get to your car through the goose poop.
-Some buildings (like mine) are not next to a parking lot. It can be a bit of a walk, but this can be good and bad. At least I don't have to look out onto a sea of vehicles, but it's a pain in the snow.
-Maintenence isn't the best. The screen to one of the windows in my bedroom has a major hole in it (still!). However, they have repaired most of our other problems pretty quickly, and did an ok job.
-What they say about the bugs is true. Too many milipedes/centipedes/silver fish for my taste. And always in the bathroom. Ugh.
-Windows are horrible. Insulation is a joke. Not energy efficient in the least.
-Not enough outlets. I don't think this a major problem but it annoys me as I have more electronic devices than the normal tennant. (My fiance is what I like to call a "techie")
-Parking lot and sidewalks are not well lit at all. It's hard to watch out for the pesky skunk that hangs around our complex when it's pitch black out!
-Floor in the kitchen is UGLY and not in good shape. Appliances are old, and also ugly. Very bland cabinets. Just not modern at all. I had to make a country vibe in there in order for it to look normal. Like I said, it is what you make it.

All in all I don't think it's the worst place in the world. It's cheap for New Jersey, that's for sure. However, life can be a pain sometimes when it doesn't have to be.
