The Adelaide grounds are well kept. I didn't live here, but a current tenant there recommended it, saying the rooms were spacious and the rent was good for her and her husband. She didn't have a problem with maintenance coming in unannounced, and a complaint involving a squirrel was handled without a problem, she said. She'd grown up in Highland Park, and LOVED the area, and said two former school teachers of hers had lived in Adelaide Gardens for more than 30 years, so it couldn't be all bad, she said.

The rental office was closed, so I called that Friday (between 9 and noon) to see one of the open apartments on my lunch hour or after work. A foreign-sounding lady answered, and didn't seem to understand I couldn't come at 1 p.m., but said she could show it at 5 p.m. She said to call when I got there so she could send someone over. Well, guess what' No one was at the rental office, it was raining, my cell phone was dead, so I had to schlep up to the Dunkin' Donuts (during rush hour no less) to call from a pay phone. I called the rental office(as the lady had said to), and left a polite message, and called a 908 number that was also available. No one called me back. I figured that if they don't return phone calls and don't mind standing someone up, what's to stop them from doing the same thing when something goes wrong once I'm a tenant.

I passed.
