I have lived here for over 7 years and have rarely had any problems.
Yes, the apartments are a bit on the dated side... but they are a good deal, especially for Highland Park. Any problems I have ever had with maintenance issues have been dealt with in a timely manner, and the guys working here are polite and respectful.
I think that most of the people up here posting negative things are probably just pain in the a** tenants to begin with... some people can't be happy no matter what you do!
All in all, I would recommend this place if you are looking for an affordable apartment, away from all the hustle and bustle of the New Brunswick area. Each apartment gets one assigned space, pretty close to their back door and there is plenty of parking if you have more than one vehicle. It's safe and more family-oriented than the typical apartments you will see in the area catering to Rutgers students.

I think that most of the people posting super positive, "this place is heaven!" comments are people who are working for the apartment complex. There are good things about this apartment complex, and bad things. To simply talk about the good things will look dishonest to people browsing, especially if there are many "1" or "2" ratings besides your single glowing review.
