Too Much Noise

This was a comment I made on another post, but I feel it needed to be its own review.
I've lived there for almost a year, and the noise is a real problem. Partly because of the building itself is old, but also because of my neighbors in particular. The apartments all have hardwood floors, so you can hear every step they take upstairs, and they have a strange fondness for dragging furniture across the floor. A lot! I'm a really heavy sleeper, but I'm always being woken up in the middle of the night. This, of course, is my own situation, but it's certainly a potential problem for anyone else if your neighbors turn out to be inconsiderate jerks.
I'm on the 2nd floor and it's true that you can hear the front door to the building closing from all the way inside your apartment. The same is true for the individual apartment doors too. Easily remedied if people would just close the doors slowly instead of letting it slam shut.
I don't know if it's the same in the other buildings, but there are a lot of small kids in mine. And they make a lot of noise. And when you can hear everything that goes on in common areas of the building, you can bet you're going to hear them screaming and running around. Not a place to live if you're looking for quite.
Everything else is pretty good, but the noise is a deal-breaker. I'm definitely not renewing me lease when it's up.
