Lower your expectation

We were renting at another Archstone property in the DC area (which we were not pleased with) when we got news that one of us was going to be transferred to the NYC area. The management gave us 2 options - continue to pay rent until they filled apartment (in a building that was over 25% vacant already) or move to another one of their properties in NYC. At the time we thought the second was the best option. The only building to have a vacancy was at 77 Park Ave in Hoboken and the only unit was a studio for $2100. It was outrageous, but our only option. We expected some level of luxury at this price outside manhattan. Instead, I lived in unit lower in quality than anything I've ever experienced - even in college! The carpet was cheap, it had laminate cabinets, sloping floors, bad linoleum, thin walls, constant elevator problems, cheap closet doors, tiny bathrooms, leaks in the bathroom, extremely rude staff...plus right before we moved out we were told our rent was going to increase over $200! So glad to be out of there! DO NOT RENT HERE!!!
