among the better choices

it's a nice, clean, safe, convenient place to live, and the experience is made all the better by being right on the hudson. beautiful views and a ferry at your door. visiting manhattanites were always jealous. you couldn't ask to be better located near grocery store, pharmacy, bank, the y, starbuck's, liquor store, bus and ferry, and great restaurants.
some posts here sound phony, like revenge of some kind. example: there are no doormen at the shipyard.
management has a LOT to manage, and generally they do a good job. there are always staff around cleaning and making repairs. lived all over the country and - trust - upkeep is better than most. that said, you still get impression a lot more could be done (and they have the money to do it, being the largest landlord in the state, and probably most favored politically) and with better materials and workmanship.
you sometimes get the feeling that backroom "arrangements" are in place - questions that no one can seem to answer about services, ISP/cable/phone options, etc.
pet friendly and unfriendly - they'll let you have dogs, but they have "no pets" signs everywhere outside. they just built a "dog run," but no dog will wait until he's in the run to relieve himself. if you DON'T like dogs, don't move here - about 80% of the residents have them, and sometimes too many big dogs per apartment.
