There are good and bad sides to all rental properties, and the ShipYard is no exception. I live in the newest building, the Independence, and for the most part the experience has been moderatly pleasant. The door men and woman have always been very polite, although there is one creepy old guy who I think might be a few short of a six pack. The apartments are pleasant and "look" nice. However, the materials are cheap, and the appliance are low quality. I can't complain about noise, as I don't often hear my neighbors, however neighbors have complained about my dog barking, which is nonsense, b/c my dog is not there during the day and times when he is supposedly barking. Apparantly one of the prima donna people living on my floor just want to cause problems. The Applied Management team however, is another story. They are horrible. I have had multiple problems with my phone service, heating/cooling systems, and my favorite, the smoke alarms constantly draining batteries and screeching "FIRE.. FIRE" in the middle of the night, after fresh batteries have been inserted. Yet, when you call the management office, they are rude, nasty, and condescending. It takes a minimum of 2 to 3 calls before they react. It took 5 calls. 4 visits, and 3 weeks for them to fix one of my air conditioners in mid-JULY. It's my opinion that when you pay $3000.00 a month in a so called luxury development, that the managment should at least be polite when you call with a question or a problem. Anne and Courtney are horrible, shrill women with power complexes. On the other hand Audrey and Hazel can be polite and helpful, when they are there. As I said, overall the building is fine. However, I think you can find a buidling with similar ammenities for much less money in Hoboken.
