1. When you move in, you can negotiate a good deal on the rent. But when your lease is up for renewal in a year, your rent will be jacked up and the leasing office won't care if you leave. In fact they will secretly hope that you leave. That's because the leasing office employees get some kind of a bonus for every "new tenant" that signs up but nothing for renewals.
2. Maintenance is shoddy and appliances are falling apart since none of them have been replaced since the complex was built.
3. Every few days there will be a "Time To Remind" notice that bascally takes away another tenant perk. Like the package room hours reduced and now no longer open on Sundays. Or the leasing office hours cut dramatically. Or you need renters insurance and will start paying for water.
4. Crime is getting worse. Frequent break-ins if you park outside. The security guard at the gate is only there to harras your visitors if they need parking. But they will do nothing if there is a real security issue.
5. Gym equipment keeps getting scare (maybe they are being sold off as junk').
6. Nothing is cleaned anymore. Large black patches and litter on hallway carpets remain for months. The gym stinks. Trash spills out of public trash cans at the entrance.
7. Bulbs are rarely replaced. So the hallways and lobbies are getting darker and darker.
