DM's Ex-townhouses and the truth about this "oh my gosh" neighborhood

I live in those cute townhouses across from 158 Wayne that used to be a part of DM 3 years ago. They decided to sell this to a management company and now I know why. Like the main buildings, there are leaks. I don't know if DM even cared to take care of these leaks before they sold the townhouses, but it has become so bad that once the roof was supposedly fixed, it's leaking 5 months later - again! It's a shame because the apartments on this side of Wayne are nice with FP's, huge decks, and a W/D in each unit. But it's time for me to get out before I see another roof go bad. So DM renters beware. I know many of you ask what it's like over here...

Meanwhile, as far as the neighborhood goes, the only reason why I wanted to live here was for the diversity and closeness to everything. You don't need a car with a grocery store 3 blocks away; library 1 block; city hall 3 blocks; and best of all the PATH 3 blocks. So it can be on the fringe around here with the every-so-often loud radio and teens trying to act tough - welcome to the city. Like somebody said on this list, for some, a brown face (Black/Latino/Filipino) may scare the "I just moved from Hoboken" crowd. But guess what' The majority of this town - and for that matter - world is not lilly white, high SES, and from the 'burbs. And if you want that, there are restaurants down the street like Marco and Pepe and the Merchant to give you that feeling with their high priced menus. That's why I like this neighborhood; you see a nicely redone $600K brownstone and then the mixed income apartments nearby; you can go to Latino bars, yuppie spots or hippster coffee shops all in your neighborhood. You see parents, kids, yuppies, guppies (--- yups), buppies (black yups) - and yes even thugs and wannabe thugs. It's called diversity and like another person pointed out, it's called a neighborhood - unlike nearby deads-ville Newport where they have nobody walking around (because they always flock to NYC), but they have chain stores (yuck!) like Starbucks, Bertucci's and now a Target - like the 'burbs (ok - I'm jealous of the Target).
