I have been living in Dixon Mills for about 4 years now, and I am dying to get out. The only reason I am staying here is because, for one they allow pets, and second, I bought a home which has been delayed for over two years, so I have to rent monthly.

I have been through infestations of ants, roaches, and have three seperate infestations of rats. When I called maintanence about this, they sent their "exterminators", who came into my apartment when I was at work and left the unopened glue traps on my kitchen counter. The kitchen cabinets are falling off the hinges, the dishwasher flooded my apartment for almost a year before they replaced it, and the shower/tub wall in the bathroom is disintegrating. We have to wear earplugs at night because it sounds like our upstairs neighbor wears clogs to bed. I can go on and on about how until recently the laundry machines never worked, the planters smell like dog piss, sometimes we have brown water from the faucet for unexplained reasons, the waste from the toilet main line from our apartment and all our neighbors backs up and floods our bathroom with dirty toilet water about every three months (and maintence used our bath towels to clean it up once!!), managment is unpleasant, and security could care less.

Jersey City and the people who live here are dirty and it is unsafe. We called the cops a few times and it takes them more than an hour to get here, if they come at all. I saw someone shot right outside my apartment, I know someone who was mugged at gun point while getting his mail INSIDE the building!! I have seen cars stolen on the street and the cops just walk by.

I have to admit, the situation with the managment of Dixon Mills has become a bit better over the last year, but in my opinion the only thing good about this complex is that they allow pets. I guess that is how they got away with all the rats. They consider them our pets.
