I've lived in the Easthampton for 1 year. Before that I lived in buildings in Queens & Brooklyn. Overall my experience has been o.k. but better to be forewarned:
Pros: Nice grounds with flower gardens, great skyline views, 24 hr doormen who are very friendly if you are friendly to them, the service crews are in-house and responsive. Apts are big and lots of closets. New appliances. Laundry rooms on every floor. Easy access to Holland Tunnel & NJ Tpke. Close to Liberty State Park.
Cons: Most of your neighbors are here on H1B visas from India, China, Pakistan, etc. Few Americans. Many residents have dogs so it is very noisy in the warm weather. The electric heaters in the apts. can bring your monthly electric bill to $400 during the winter. Phone service is through Newport Telecom which rips you off big time. No choice of cable and the only high speed internet is through a T1. No DSL available. Expect to smell curry all the time in the hallways and expect rude behavior from your foreign neighbors. No on-street parking so expect to pay $170 extra to park your car. Shopping is limited and surrounding area is a hellhole.

Appreciate your honesty. I was in a building with same international population and found the curry smell and rude kids and folks most inconsiderate. Thank you so much for describing the facts!
