I've been living in a studio apartment here for 11 months now. It's a decent place, but for the price it sucks!! The doorman never opens the door. He just sits behind his desk. Some of the doormen are nice though. It doesn't seem like they understand the concept of "the consumer is always right."

Be careful when parking in the guest spots, they'll tow your car without hesitation. There are only 9 guest spots for the entire building. I've seen enough fights in the lobby with guests who've had their cars towed.

The rent is too high for the location. The electric bills in the winter are ridiculous and the room doesn't even get warm enough so the heater just stays on forever. Also, after living here for almost a year now, they are asking $200 more for the rent renewal. That comes out to over $1600 for a studio apartment in New Jersey. That does not include the $500 annual amenity fee on top of that. Also, don't forget the $20 monthly fee to store your bike in the parking lot. I can find nicer places in New York for the same price.

If you work in NYC, then don't forget to add an extra 5-10 minutes of elevator time to your commute. The morning rush can take anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes of elevator wait time. I have taken the emergency stairs on several occasions and I live more than 5 floors up. One time, I took the stairs which lead directly outside the building and ended up stepping on dog crap in the grassy patches where the doors exit.

This place has not lived up to the price. Don't feel so wowed when you first see the place. There are much nicer and cheaper places in Newport.
