i get the impression that some of the other reviewers have not looked around the area (downtown jersey city/exchange place) to compare the prices of comparable apartments. the prices at the portside were in the same range as the other commercial apartment buildings and a bit more expensive than privately leased units.
for the bit of extra money i got a unit that:
-was clean
-was pest free
-was spacious (no lie)
-had a washer and dryer in the apartment, dishwasher, all of which were relatively new and in good condition
maybe the management can be a bit difficult, but how many landlords out there are truly sweethearts' if you want to be babied, go back home and live with your parents. if you're not a pushover, you'll be able to get a fair deal at the portside.
