Nice apartments, but Mgmt. is poor

Years at this apartment: 1999 - 2002
I started off in a one bedroom, one bathroom apartment on a low floor with a nice view of the Statue. The rent was high for the time (1999) but the apartment was clean and the neighbors were great. The rent increases are dramatic. Around 16% each year (and I have to argue with the Mgmt. for days because they want more like 23%). I lived directly across from the parking garage and it was quite noisy during the summer when you have the balcony doors open. I live in the East tower and it is much newer/modern that the West. The lobby is also nicer. If you have a pet, you will pay a fortune to keep it in the building. They charge a $1,000 pet fee plus pet rent on a monthly basis (I think its something like $100 per month per pet in additional rent). I've recently switched to a two bedroom, two bathroom within the East Tower and am very happy there. I have never seen a "pest" in the building and it is kept clean. The doormen and nice and if you get to know them, they will really look out for you. Mgmt. has a terrible attitude....but that seems to be the case in all of the buildings.
