The only thing good about Portside is the location. It's were the people who cannot afford NYC come to rent. But if you go ten blocks in any direction of this location--you can see what 50cent & the G-Unit are rapping about!
The exterior is falling apart due to poor construction. But feat not, Portside hired the lowest bid contractors who are wonderful non-English speaking border jumpers to fix the problem.
The interior provides more space for the buck than NYC. But the appliances appear to have been found on the streets on garbage night and refurbished. They would be perfect if a movie crew was filming a movie about the 1950's.
It's a very festive environment were on any given night you can experience residents urinating & throwing bottles of the balconies. I've been told this is a custom in their native homeland of India--God bless Gandhi!
Everything from the lobby & crackhead supplied gym resemble some of the lovely diverse projects and section eight housing Jersey City has to offer.
The project manager has a lovely Jersey City attitude and thinks the residents should not complain. After all at $2,500 to $6,000 a month--plus $75- per dog & $180 for parking, its a real steal!
The rest of the staff are lovely underpaid people. They are all a few sandwiches short of a picnic!

I would highly recommend Portside!

I am also a resident of Portside an although the management office does rip you off with rent increases nothing else about the previous review is accruate. I have never seen any of the so called behavior that was mentioned, but you may want to steer clear of the bigots that live in the building.

The staff is amazing, obviously you're a few sandwiches short of a picnic yourself!!! If you want to live someplace with cheap rent and no diversity, I suggest moving to the midwest. You'd probably fit in better there!!!
