Lived there for 7 years... Good outweights the bad here

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2007
Lived there for 7 years, first in a one bedroom in the East tower, then in a two bedroom in the West tower and finally in a three bedroom in the East tower.
The good:
- Amazing views
- Good amenities (Gym, tennis, children's playroom)
- Proximity to Path train, ferry, light rail...
- Paulus Hook/Newport is becoming more convenient as the area continues to develop (when I first moved in this was not the case)
- Staff is generally helpful and corteous
- Great for kids
The bad:
- Rent increases. Although, I have to say that I was able to negotiate down from my proposed increase in every singly year I was there, except for maybe one. My stay there coincided with some down years in the rental market, though... I moved out in early 2006 and was paying 2,700 for a very decent sized three bedroom with Manhattan views on the 23rd floor. I thought that was a steal...
- Thin walls and generally adequate but cheap construction and finishes.
- Somebody commented on the quality of the appliances. I thought they were OK. We did have on major issue with the washer drier once. It essentially blew up and resulted in the sprinklers being activated. Fortunately we had noticed some problems with the appliance in the days prior to this incident and had a record of a couple of maintenance requests. This may have saved us from an ugly dispute with management about damages to the apartment. As it turned out, they assumed full responsibility, gave us a furnished apartment for 2 weeks while they repaired ours, etc.
The ugly:
- The incredibly racist content of some of the comments here from presumptive residents
