The apartments here are very spacious, but have extremely outdated appliances and interiors. The views on the NYC facing side are spectacular. The grounds are nice and have decent ammenities. The park outside is one of the best parts of the apartment complex (even though not owned by Equity). As a first year resident you will think you have hit the jackpot with the price/square foot, but don't be fooled - you will receive a hefty increase. Ours was 17% (which prompted us to leave) and don't believe the manager when she says "That's the market" because that isn't the market at all. So if you are looking for a place to stay for one year then this is the place for you. On a security note, in case you haven't read the news there was a homicide at Portside this week in the West Tower. Yes there is a doorman 24 hours, but there's only a few that actually pay attention enough to recognize residents and question guests. There is one doorman who works the day shift that is very diligent about who comes and goes, and while it may be annoying for guests, it actually is comforting to know someone is paying attention. So when you are thinking of safety, our snoozing doorman that works from midnight until 7 AM doesn't provide it. Just because this building is a luxury tower that has a doorman all the time does not mean it's safe. Our apartments are as open to any one off the street as if you had your front door on Warren Street. So keep that in mind when you're paying high prices for your so-called "secured" luxury tower.
