bugs and cury - get out in a hurry!

I've lived here for a couple years now. I was horrified to find that they were raising rents in this awful economic environment. The first year, they raised 200/month to an already way over priced 2300/month for a one bedroom. Recently, they tried to increase again, but only managed a small increase (still insane given the current conditions). There is ongoing construction in the garage that joins the 2 towers. This causes tremendous noise and dust. If you work from home, you'll have to close all your doors and windows - unless you enjoy the sound of air pumps and jack hammers - which are so loud, you cant hear your own tv. Fortunately, they stop working at 5pm (starting at 8am, not 9!). The dust settles in your apt and creates a film over everything. I cant imagine what my lungs look like from it. With as many spaces as are available in the over priced garage, they should have larger spots. Parking is difficult to say the least. Also, in spite of the resurfacing, the garage is slick when wet, causing your anti-lock breaks to come on if you go 5mph.
My biggest complaint are the bugs. I keep a clean apt, but in spite of that, I saw a roach scurry under the dishwasher. Yesterday, I saw a few live bugs in my canister of rice. This is the last straw and hence my review. I refuse to let these clowns get away with these hidden conditions for the rent they charge. Upon several complaints about the noise, I was told that I can not change apartments as there is a clause in the contract forbidding any lease break due to construction (which is unreasonable and ongoing with out any end in sight).
I hear 2 neighbors' dogs on a regular basis so the "insulated walls" are useless. My heating bills are incredible as well. The noisy wall unit is constantly on to achieve a 68 degree temp (swings from 65 to 75 for no reason). I actually had to tape the windows and sliding glass doors b/c they leaked so much air - that helped but the bills continue to be staggering (300 per month) and now i'm unable to open the window due to the tacky tape job I was forced to use to keep out the cold air.
Seriously, this certainly isnt a luxury apt. I would stay away and put the money into a better place.

In addition, our car was broken into in Portside Towers parking garage, and since moving to Port Liberte have noticed that our indoor parking is not only safer -- tenant ID required -- it's also climate controlled. No more driving around with freezing fingertips and buttocks waiting for the heat to kick in.
