Maybe I'm in the minority from these reviews, or maybe satisfied people don't rant.

The appliances are old, yes; but any problem I've had with them was fixed within 48 hours. My pasta doesn't care about the age of the burner beneath it. The neighbors can be noisy, yes (exploding video games a 3:45 a.m.!); but one call to the office and it was resolved and the neighbors slipped a note of apology under my door the next day.

Parking is cheap by NY standards. I've lived in much more luxurious places where cars where broken into. Hey..if you're a car thief, where are you going to go' The best buildings with the best cars! Life in the big city. Clue: Don't keep anything valuable or visible in your car. Better yet---DO keep something valuable and visible so they'll break into yours and not mine. Make sure that GPS is stuck on the windshield and your EZPass is in plain sight; and thank you.

I've not experienced the rent increase issue yet, but, believe me, 60 days before renewal I will know every competing offer in the neighborhood. Then again, I'm in a studio so it is pretty easy for me to pick up and go.

Overall, the place is clean, in a quiet neighborhood and the service is sterling. P0MtU6TIdDkM23RTonAS

Speaking of clean and sterling, make sure before you rent here you at least *open* -- in passing at least, if at all -- the receptacle room. I only noticed since moving OUT OF Portside Towers TO Port Liberte that actually, now, there is NO ODOR. So the 5 times per week I was enduring that stench over in the Portside Towers LACK of ventilation (every time I attempted to take out my garbage), I realize now it was completely unneccessary. Here we have a receptacle room, and you not only smell nothing in the hallway leading up to it, you smell nothing putting your nose anywhere in the actual room right next to it. Portside Towers has a serious waste/odor problem.

Our car was damaged and almost broken into EVEN if we had nothing inside, meaning the whole car was empty including the trunk. Still, they tried to open it. What about that? Of course we are not stupid to leave anything precious in the car to invite the thiefs. Well, I still don't find normal that several cars in the same garage were damaged and/or robbed. We lived in other gated communities in JC and also in different US cities, but this has never happened to us before, over there. Considering how many cameras the concierge has behind his back, the question is - is anyone ever checking them and are any installed in the garage? At least for the heck of it? As for my neighbor, well, I told him 3 times in person and once through the concierge that he was noisy (loud aggressive music at midnight, making love (yes! more! more!!!!!) with his girlfriend etc. , do you think it helped? No. But I don't say it's completely his fault: again, in other places we used to live the walls were much better quality and we didn't hear anything. As for the odor, someone is so kind in this house that he/she smokes in the bathroom and of course it gets into our bathroom and smells like hell. Looks like people are too lazy to go to their balconies and smoke there, bec. it's freezing. So be prepared for this, too. Other than that, as I said before, I am quite satisfied - it's not perfect, but O.K. and if the price will be OK when the renewal comes up, we'll probably stay - that depends on the management people though. Bec. if you look around you can get much better deals.
