It's dangerous to live in PortSide Towers. Serious safety system problem. Security is but an empty shell. One gunshot murder happened in PortSide Towers 15th floor in late 2007.
2. Very old-style and cheap air conditioner. Air conditioner makes very large noise. Makes people not able to sleep at night.
3. Very poor hot water system. Takes long time to get hot water. Sometimes it takes more than 10 minutes to get hot water for shower. Easy to catch a cold when showing.
4. Thin wall, cold wind comes in through wall, window and door. Very cold in the room. Very high utility bill. $600/month for two bedrooms.
5. A lot of dust/fiber comes into the apartment. Very hard to clean. Need to clean every day.
6. Very large noise from the trash collecting truck working every midnight or early morning. Easily to be woke up when sleeping.
7. Very poor maintenance and bad service/attitude. Not able to get problem solved at all or it takes very long time from weeks to months to solve a problem. Management team doesn t care residents health. Especially Jackie Andrews and Jackie Thomas, they will be just mad after you sign the lease.
8. Rent raised very fast, 13% per year. Once you sign lease, they will increase lease a lot next year.

How ironic. I was leafing through old files just today looking for something else and I came across the police report we filed when my husbands BMW was broken into while living here inside the supposedly-secure parking garage. Avoid this place like the plague. They simply aren't upholding their end of the "status" bargain in the neighborhood.

I have lived here since Feb. and am a picky person when it comes to apartments. I find most of the negative reviews of Portside to be exaggerated. I moved in here with a new BMW and have not had any security issues with the garage or in the building. To the contrary, I regularly see the doormen stop even food delivery people to acertain where they are going in the building, and feel quite safe as a young woman. I am pleased overall, and have had quick responses from the management to minor issues. They replaced my entire A/C unit in under 30 minutes with a brand new one when it was broken. I will consider renewing my lease, because compared to several other properties in Paulus Hook, this one is the best I've found yet.
