I moved to Jersey City about a year ago. In that time I found better living quarters and will not be renewing my lease.
My unit at Riverside was adequate. The maintenance and door people were always responsive and friendly but I've heard others complain, so I'd have to conclude things are a little uneven in that department.
Location is great -- right on the Hudson River. PATH station is steps away as is the NY Waterway ferry.
There are many restaurants in the area and all of them are unremarkable with the possible exception of the South City Grill and perhaps Komegashi too.
The biggest problems residents of Riverside face are:
- Crappy cable service from RCN. It's microwaved over from NY and inclement weather, passing helicopters, etc. screw it up. Comcast is trying to get in, but the bureaucratic red tape is proving impenetrably thick.
- Outrageous electricity bills during cold winters and hot summers. The heating/cooling units are underpowered, inefficient and loud. The insulation is also poor and the building feels like it was intended for South Florida.
- A sterile, corporate living environment with little in the way of community feel.

Have you moved to another rental in the area? If so, is it better? I am looking to move to the area and am seeking recommendations.
Thanks.
