The building is old and in need of many repairs. There are roaches, bedbugs, mice and rats. The only good thing is that the doormen are nice and they accept packages for you. The maintence is extremely high for the non-services you receive.

This building is next to a Section 8 building and the police are always there for problems.

If you keep your windows open you can smell the curry from the restaurants on Newark Ave. It's disgusting.

AMEN to that. The curry smell from newark Ave. the elevator the laundry room, the lobby. I agree with everything "EXCEPT" with the package issue. If you catch the package guy awake, you can get your package. But on the other hand, with his attitude, I rather let him sleep.

Lived at 225 St Pauls for 6 years now and surprised to hear some of these comments. Yes, the buildings are old and like any building that is almost 50 years old it needs maintenance (not different from any other building in NY or NJ) and occasionally you do see a mouse which if reported to the doorman gets help from exterminators right away at management company's expense. Not sure if you have lived in any Manhattan buildings but the problem of rats is A LOT worse there so this is part of urban living unfortunately. Overall I think it is a great family environment, safe buildings, nice atmosphere and convenience of being close enough to Manhattan yet a manageable distance away. Never had any problems in 6 years that I have been there.
