I lived in this building for 6.5 years. (I must be a gluten for punishment.) I moved over to Jersey after 9/11 due to my circumstances. My lease began 1/02 and I moved on 6/08. They promised all the perks that were going to be put into place, like a doorman in each building. Needless to say, that never happened.
In March of 2003 there were 60 cars vandalized or stolen from the enclosed parking garage between the two buildings that comprise what was then called Alexan at Liberty House. My Jeep was one of the 60. That was the second time it had been hit. I rallied the all the residents against the owners, Trammel Crow Realty. The Jersey City Sheriff came to a meeting.
TCR's response was to create an LLC with Windsor and change the name of the property. Windsor came in and told us they had taken over the building and things were going to be different with them.
Rallying the people got security guards placed in the building. I am not on my home computer, but I will try to post one of the guards sleeping in his car later. After enough pushing I got them to put cameras in and keep a guard, not that it did much good. The guards don't monitor the cameras, nor patrol, and if there was a problem they do not have a phone to call the police.
It is just a front to make it look like they care. What I find astounding is that they will not disclose this information if asked. I told a potential renter about it and asked them to ask and let me know what they said. They said they had never had a problem.
They hire children to run the facility so they don't have to pay them much. And yes, when a child is handling your problems not much gets accomplished.
I complained so much over the years that I lived there I finally gave up.
The current manager, ----------is her pet name with everyone in the Dudley building, is worthless. Her boss from Windsor, ------, is a lying, conniving ------to put it politely.
I cannot find one good thing to say about this apartment building other than the neighborhood is beautiful. However, keep your guard up. Break-ins and robberies are still an occurrence.
