Fairway Villas

If you absolutely have to live in Lakewood, this is the best place to do it. These apartments have their good points and bad points but they are still better than anything you'll find in Lakewood.
THE BAD:
* Parking is terrible if you get home after 7 or 8 at night. Be ready to walk. They tried issuing parking stickers to weed out some cars in the lot but it didn't work and is not enforced.
*The walls keep out noise from neighbors next door but if you live downstairs the noise from even the quietest neighbor upstairs is bad. Also, when anyone walks up the steps to go upstairs, the noise can be heard in the entire building.
*The developemnt itself is beautiful and peaceful but the only entrance/exit to the developement is by passing through a different trashy, run-down and troublesome ghetto apartment complex. This is one of the main reasons I moved out. A security guard keeps unwanted people from entering to Fairway Villas from the ghetto apartments but you still have to drive through the area every time you leave or come home.
*Insulation and windows are absolutely terrible! I could watch my blinds move every time the wind blew. For some reason they actually claim they have some of the best windows and insulation available if you read the brochure. Totally false. Maybe back in the day, but the developement is 20 yrs old now.
* For the most part landscaping is beautiful but they let bushes grow to giant sizes even if they are in front of your windows! Most 1st floor apartments have gigantic bushes blocking some or all of the windows. If anyone from Fairway Villas reads this, PULL OUT THE BUSHES! The development backs up to a golf course and has gorgeous views if you can see out the window.
* The apartments are nearing 20 yrs old and mine needed some updating inside. Kitchen cabinets are not the greatest. The dishwasher was louder than a race car. Bathrooms need to be updated also. The windows are terrible and most don't open properly.

THE GOOD:
*The development is very beautiful and well kept. Grass is kept nice and bushes and trees are trimmed often but are let to grow too big. The architecture is unique and is really stunning, especially in summer. Flowers are always planted at the entrance. Parking lots are usually clean.
*The apartments inside are huge (1 bedroom) compared to any other I've seen in their price range and even bigger than higher priced apartments. You even have a laundry room with your own full size washer/dryer.
*Office staff is good. The head maintenance guy is very helpful and very friendly. Some of the people under him seem a little shady though. Repairs are usually taken care of quickly although the repair quality sometimes leaves a little to be desired.
*Lots of closet space
*Great views of the golf course.
*Quiet development
*Security guard at night.
* If you choose to live here, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND you pay the extra for an upstairs apartment. You'll be glad you did.
